The Hong Kong Cyclothon 2021 is set to take place this Sunday, with the police announcing road closures to accommodate the event. The race routes will pass through key roads such as Canton Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, West Kowloon Highway, and the Tsing Ma Bridge. As preparations get underway, certain roads will be closed in phases starting at 1am, with some closures expected to last until approximately 3.30pm.

With an estimated 6,000 cyclists participating in the event, organizers are gearing up for the first Cyclothon Carnival to be held at the West Kowloon Cultural District. Raymond Chan, the general manager of event and product development at the Tourism Board, shared details about the new carnival setup. He mentioned that the finishing line will be situated on the bridge above Jordan Road, allowing cyclists easy access to the carnival post-race.

Excitement for the Cyclothon is further heightened by the participation of renowned retired cyclists Lee Wai-sze and Wong Kam-po in the 50-kilometre race. Additionally, fencer Yeung Chi-ka will be joining the 32-kilometre race, adding to the diversity of participants and the overall competitive spirit of the event.
