About 2,500 individuals attended a job fair in Hong Kong on Friday, where 70 companies were on the lookout for top talents in the region. The event, organized by the Hong Kong Top Talent Services Association, marked the second recruitment fair of the year and boasted over 1,500 available positions.
Founder of the association, Shang Hailong, emphasized the unique nature of this particular job fair. He highlighted the collaboration with the Hong Kong Talent Engage Office and the Oases (Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises), along with the participation of different committees, as key distinctions of this event.
With over 4,000 individuals registered for the fair, the turnout was impressive. Sun Hung Kai Properties, a prominent property giant, was among the companies actively recruiting at the fair. According to Bonnie Soo, Assistant Manager of Human Resources at Sun Hung Kai Properties, the company is specifically targeting candidates from the mainland.
Soo explained, “The businesses of Sun Hung Kai Properties extend beyond Hong Kong, with numerous property projects in mainland China. By recruiting individuals from the mainland, we aim to gain insights into the preferences and needs of customers in that region.”
Among the attendees was Scarlett Chen, a jobseeker from the mainland, who expressed her hopes of securing a better job opportunity at the fair. Chen highlighted challenges faced in the job market on the mainland, such as age restrictions in certain industries like IT and limited prospects for career advancement and salary growth due to economic conditions.
In addition to providing job opportunities, the fair served as a platform for cross-border recruitment efforts and knowledge exchange between professionals from Hong Kong and mainland China. This exchange of talent and expertise is crucial for driving innovation and growth in the region’s workforce.
The positive response to the job fair underscores the ongoing demand for skilled professionals in Hong Kong and the significance of fostering collaboration between different regions to meet the evolving needs of the job market. As the job landscape continues to evolve, events like these play a vital role in connecting employers with top talents and providing individuals with opportunities to advance their careers.
