Looks like Hongkongers are in for a wet and wild Saturday afternoon, according to the local weather forecasters. The Observatory is warning everyone to prepare for heavy showers and thunderstorms as patches of thundery showers continue to pop up over the Pearl River Delta. The cause? A pesky trough of low pressure that just won’t quit.

In a special announcement around 1.30pm, the Observatory mentioned that the showers are expected to get even heavier in some areas across the territory. Thunderstorms are also on the horizon in the next couple of hours, so it’s time to batten down the hatches, folks. The public is advised to stay on their toes and keep an eye on the changing weather conditions.

Not really sure why this matters, but more than 10mm of rainfall has already been recorded in various spots around the city this morning. And guess what? Hong Kong Island has been hit with over 20mm of rain! So yeah, it’s definitely soggy out there. Stay safe and dry, folks. The weather’s looking pretty unpredictable today – better grab your umbrellas and raincoats before heading out.
