The Hong Kong Observatory has lifted all typhoon signals at 10:10 pm on Tuesday as Typhoon Man-yi weakens and moves away from the city. The T1 signal had been in effect for over 30 hours since Monday morning. The Observatory also mentioned that due to the combined effect of spring tide, the northeast monsoon, and Typhoon Man-yi, the water level along the coast of Hong Kong is expected to rise higher than usual on Tuesday night. There is a possibility of minor flooding in low-lying coastal areas.
The forecaster warned that from around 10 pm to midnight, a high water level of nearly 3 meters above Chart Datum is expected in Victoria Harbour, while a high water level of about 3.1 meters above Chart Datum is expected at Tai O. Residents are advised to stay away from the shoreline and remain vigilant during this time.
Additionally, it is crucial for people to take necessary precautions and be prepared for any potential flooding in the affected areas. It is always better to err on the side of caution and ensure the safety of oneself and loved ones during such weather conditions.
It is important to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and advisories from the Hong Kong Observatory to ensure the well-being of everyone in the community. Remember to follow any instructions or guidelines provided by the authorities to stay safe during typhoons and other natural disasters.
