An 18-year-old gal from Hong Kong was at a concert by Cantopop sensation Raymond Lam Fung when her camera lens valued at HK$20,000 (US$2,550) was swiped by a sneaky thief who detached it. The incident was reported to the police at 11.51pm on a Friday night, with the woman stating that she realized her lens was missing outside the Hong Kong Coliseum in Hung Hom. The woman mentioned that she checked her camera around 11.30pm and the lens was still there, but just 15 minutes later, it mysteriously disappeared.

The young lady shared her unfortunate experience on the Threads social media platform, revealing that she was waiting for Raymond Lam Fung to exit the venue after his concert near Gate Y when the theft occurred. She mentioned that she was positioned close to a traffic light with her camera hung over her right shoulder. Raymond Lam Fung had been holding a series of sold-out concerts at the coliseum from May 22 to 25 after a break of nine years. Another user on Threads, a friend of the victim who claimed to be a witness, described two men in white attire, approximately 170cm (5 feet 7 inches) tall, who detached the lens from the victim’s Canon EOS 5D camera.

Not entirely sure why this incident matters, but it seems like the thief had a keen eye for expensive camera equipment. The victim’s friend, who was apparently present during the incident, provided some details on the perpetrators’ appearance, which might help in the investigation. It’s quite surprising how quickly the lens went missing, raising questions about security at such events. The fact that the theft took place right outside the coliseum adds to the mystery – how did the thief manage to detach the lens without being noticed by anyone around? Overall, a bizarre and unfortunate incident that serves as a reminder to be cautious when attending crowded events.
