A whale that was stranded near Tai O has unfortunately passed away, despite the efforts of a team of veterinarians. The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) reported on Sunday that veterinarians from Ocean Park had conducted an initial assessment and discovered that the whale was injured.
While the veterinarians were in the process of sedating the whale for further diagnosis, they noticed that it was in a very weak state. Tragically, the whale did not survive the diagnostic procedures and passed away around midnight. AFCD staff and Ocean Park veterinarians will be examining the carcass to determine the exact cause of death.
