In anticipation of the influx of visitors, the government has announced the introduction of two new express bus routes that will connect the Kai Tak MTR station, West Kowloon high-speed rail station, and Tsim Sha Tsui. Recognizing the potential surge in demand for taxis on the day of the cruise ship’s arrival, the Transport Department has been in communication with the taxi trade. To incentivize taxi drivers to pick up passengers at the terminal, each taxi will be provided with HK$100 gas coupons if an “exceptionally strong demand” is expected. This is a significant increase from the previous offer of HK$50 per taxi.
