Breakdancers are often seen as confident and aggressive, but not B-boy C Plus. Despite his impressive skills in break battles, the Hongkonger remains humble and easy-going. Also known as Sze Ka-yam, C Plus started breakdancing in 2009 and has competed in various competitions before representing Hong Kong in the Olympic qualifiers last year. Although he placed 44th and did not secure a spot at the Paris Games, C Plus remains dedicated to pursuing his passion for breakdancing.

In order to focus on his passion, C Plus made the decision to give up his full-time job two years ago. Becoming a full-time athlete in Hong Kong comes with significant challenges, but C Plus is committed to his training regimen. He spends at least four hours a day working on his balance, practicing breakdance skill sets and rhythms, and dedicating time to muscle training. Despite the lack of government support for the sport, C Plus actively seeks out his own physical trainer, therapist, and sponsors to continue his journey in breakdancing.

Breakdance battles require dancers to face off one-on-one, improvising their moves to music provided by a DJ within a set timeframe. It demands strength, stamina, and flexibility to execute dance elements such as footwork, freezes, power moves, and toprock. Judges evaluate breakers based on creativity, personality, technique, variety, showmanship, and musicality to determine the winner of the battle.

Looking ahead, C Plus is focused on maintaining his ranking to continue representing Hong Kong at future international events. He aims to participate in the National Games, World Games, and Nagoya Asian Games in the coming years. Despite the physical demands of breakdancing, C Plus emphasizes the importance of proper training to prevent serious injuries. He cherishes the freedom that breakdancing offers, allowing him to express his own style and moves without limitations.

With his dedication and passion for breakdancing, C Plus serves as an inspiration to aspiring dancers in Hong Kong and beyond. His journey exemplifies the challenges and rewards of pursuing a career in a less traditional sport. As he continues to push boundaries and defy expectations, C Plus remains a shining example of perseverance and commitment in the world of breakdancing.
