Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun has advised former employees of the gym chain, Physical, to carefully review their new contracts following its closure and rebranding as perFIT by medical beauty company perFACE. The company is looking to hire around 200 of the 700 former workers and has been in contact with them. Sun mentioned that approximately 770 workers sought assistance from the Labour Department to claim their outstanding wages and severance payments.
In light of this situation, Sun emphasized the importance of ex-Physical workers paying close attention to the terms of their new contracts to safeguard their rights. He assured that the Labour Department is ready to support employees if needed.
Additionally, Sun addressed concerns raised by imported workers who alleged mistreatment by construction companies. He confirmed that legal investigations are underway to address these issues and reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting the rights and interests of imported workers, ensuring they receive fair treatment.
