Seventy-five vintage cars paraded through the streets of Hong Kong to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The event, organized by the Automobile Association and Yan Chai Hospital, showcased a variety of famous car brands. The procession kicked off at Chater Road in Central, continuing through Central Harbourfront, Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade, West Kowloon Cultural District, and finally concluding at Disneyland.

Transport minister Lam Sai-hung spoke at the ceremony, emphasizing the significance of the parade. He highlighted how vintage cars, with proper care and maintenance, can be considered valuable treasures. Siu, a car enthusiast himself, shared that many of the classic cars featured in the parade were his childhood “dream cars.” Additionally, he addressed the concerning rise in cyclist fatalities due to traffic accidents and mentioned plans to collaborate with transport authorities on implementing legislation that mandates the use of bicycle helmets for safety.
